Dublin Indie-pop record label Popical Island are set to take the reigns at the next installment of Heineken Music and POD’s Future Bright on July 28th. This event will also see Ireland’s first Playbutton release: a custom Tieranniesaur pin badge presented in bespoke packaging, doubling as an mp3 player which plays the Tieranniesaur album only.
Popical Island is a small, hard-working indie pop collective based in Dublin. Formed by the bands Land Lovers, Yeh Deadlies and Groom in late 2009, it also is home to some of Ireland’s most exciting indie-poppers, including Tieranniesaur, Squarehead, Pantone247 and Walpurgis Family.
Tieranniesaur – the five-piece old school disco, new wave, afro-pop animals – will be launching their self-titled debut album on the Popical Island imprint on the night. This FutureBright performance will also feature sets from lo-fi noise kings No Monster Club (Bobby raps on the album track ‘Azure Island’) and the even-intoxicating Patrick Kelleher.
Future Bright; a collaboration between Pod and Heineken Music, sees some of the most exciting new music in Ireland and around the globe take ownership of the venue and curate their own night on the last Thursday of every month. The artists will be asked to take complete control; to put together a lineup or collaboration with their peers and create a totally unique live experience.
