ELECTRIC DIRT JUNKIE June 28th @ PUNK, SOHO STREET, SOHO
Doors 7pm – 3am. £6 on the door. Cheap Drinks 7-9pm.
A new night launches this month @ London’s coolest new venue PUNK, W1.
June 28th sees the beginning of a new era for UK promoter & Happy Mondays guitarist Kav Sandhu.
The Electric Dirt Junkie is an Indie//Electro//Crossover night bringing together live bands, guest DJs, top remixers & producers. A night for music lovers & musicians themselves, keeping it eclectic but with bands only of the highest quality. As with Kav’s last night & festival Getloaded @ Turnmills, there will one off showcases for labels & after-parties for bands, creating a unique vibe.
The launch of Electric Dirt Junkie sees an exciting mix of bands & DJs. Example, hugely tipped rapper signed to Mike Skinner’s label The Beats will be headlining, following the recent release of his new single ‘I Don’t Want to’. He will be supported by new buzz band The Thirst, a band inspired by a unique mix of Hendrix, drum n’ bass & Hip hop who were recently discovered by Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) & signed to his label Wooden Records. Jersey Budd described as ‘the new Dylan’ (The Sun 2007) will be playing an acoustic set, fresh from his first ever Glastonbury performance.
DJ support will be provided by Legendary producer Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream, Reverend & The Makers, Kasabian, The Bravery, Garbage, Soulwax), Kav, Infadels, Sean Mcluskey, (Sonic Mook/ 1234 Records), Men in Masks & EDJ residents Soul Boy Mystic & Sheps ( Shotgun Suzzey).
Kav’s previous night Getloaded blew up in 2004 to become a 20,000 capacity festival on Clapham Common and is still going on till this day. The success of the night was noted by the Guardian in January 2005.
"This night has arguably made more impact in its first 12 months than any in living history. Not only was GetLoaded the Catalyst for the reformation of the Happy Mondays last year, it also enticed huge crowds to Clapham Common last summer for its award-winning festival!" The Guardian Jan 30 2005
Kav is now launching ‘The Electric Dirt Junkie’ to fill in a gap in London’s club calendar.
“This night represents the soul of the city! The night is not about trends & fashions – the night is about good music & bringing genres together. Respecting & representing some of the pioneers and founders of some of today’s music. Combining this with some of the most exciting & electrifying new talent gracing the underground music scene!! This is one of the best times to be riding the vibe, living in & being part of London. This night represents true music fans who are not affected by genres & haircuts”. (Kav)
