Now we had searched high and low for a venue befitting enough for the tWaDdLe 5th Birthday as we didnt fancy some normal run of the mill show and have found the perfect room within Beaverworks an Old Bed Factory, The Basement. For those familiar with this space know how industrial it looks down there and how great the soundsystem is plus we are capping the capacity of this party to 250 people so make it a right royal knees up! For those of you not familiar with this space we will be sending out photo's in the next few weeks to get you excited because we are for sure.
Catching Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts in such an intimate space is definitely one not to missed as a week later he will playing to thousands on the Amnesia terrace at Cocoon...so 250 of you lucky so and so's will get to see what he does best...
From humble beginnings in a tiny basement of a Headingley Cafe with founders Brother Bull and Christan Maiden, Twaddle has come a long way, and now present to you our 5th Birthday party!
To mark this special occasion we have drafted in one of our most prolific recruits to help blow out the candles...The formidably funky, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts - Live.
This will be his first appearance back in Leeds after his acclaimed second album 'Breaking The Forth Wall' dropped on Circus Company so we're sure to be in for another spectacular show.
Last time Guillaume was in town it was an absolute roadblock so make sure to get down to see an act that will blow you away.
You'll see him about this summer at the likes of Cocoon opening party in Ibiza, the mighty Fabric to name a few but not often in an small intimate party. Dont miss out and help us celebrate 5yrs of absolute debauchery.
Ever an energetic actor in the electronic music scene, Montreal based artist Guillaume Coutu Dumont maintains numerous collaborative projects, performing regularly in his hometown and around the world. Driven by his passion for hybrid forms of musical expression, Guillaume continues on his quest for the ultimate ham bone funk recipe with his solo project: Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts a special blend of funk, house, techno, gospel, swing and afro-beat. His first album Face A L'Est was released in 2007 on Musique Risqué and the second Breaking The Fourth Wall in May 2010 on the French imprint Circus Company. So far, his solo outputs are available on Mutex_rec, Musique Risquée, Hartchef Discos, Floppy Funk, OSLO, Raum Musik and on French labels Circus company and Karat.
Guillaume’s initial musical forays were as a percussionist in a funk band, after which he studied latin and classical percussions in college before discovering electro-acoustic composition, which he pursued further at university. It was during this period that he joined [iks], a contemporary jazz formation with whom he recorded two albums and toured for several months in Senegal. Upon his return to Montreal, Guillaume decided to focus his efforts on composition.
Influenced as much by concrete music as by techno, which he discovered one night in the midst of a lightning storm, Guillaume founded Egg (Mutek_rec, Karat, Floppy Funk), Luci (Mutek_rec, Morris Audio), Chic Miniature (Raummusik, Musique Risquée), Flabbergast (Mutek_rec), as well as the artistic collective Racam. He has toured with one or another of these projects in north/south America, Europe and Asia.
Since January 2007, Guillaume has reached European soil. Like many other, he chose Berlin as his new home base. Traveling all around the block, he’s always looking to get the dance floors grinning with guilty pleasure.
C'mon now shake that ass!
