  • Monster Cuts returns to Shoreditch’s favourite late night boogie haunt The Horse & Groom for it’s first party of 2011. Sister shindig to the housier Beats Bubble, Monster Cuts is all about the party, bringing the very best in hip hop, soul, funk and disco to the fore – so bring your dancing sneeks and be prepared for an evening of grooving. Sam Watts (Maxxi Soundsystem) Following many parties under various guises in his home town of Brighton; Sam Watts launched on the scene as part of Cagedbaby, touring in the band's live show in 2008 and working with production partner Thomas Gandey - you may have heard their recent collaboration FAT CONTROLLER / YOU CANT DANCE which got big support from Pete Tong and many of the big name DJs. Sam's own productions are starting to surface now with a remix of Jona Lewie / Man Like Me's "Kitchen At Parties" now out on Southern Fried but causing even more of a stir is his Maxxi Soundsystem alias with the debut release "CRITICIZE" on Kojak Giant Sounds already with huge support from the likes of Tim Sweeney (DFA/Beats In Space), Annie Mac (Radio 1), Jacques Renault, Disco Bloodbath and Feel My Bicep. Producing across a wealth of different house and tech grooves and styles, he's already had has debut EP released by Leeds' Baker Street Records (home to music by Sasse, Jay Tripwire, Joshua Iz, Sei A, Moodymanc & Dubble D), had remixes on Electric Sheep, Cubism,and Baker Street and another EP + remix requested by Baker Street, and another release forthcoming for Black Sheep Trax. As a DJ, he's a former resident of legendary clubs like Turnmills, The Cross and The Key, as well as Pacha London and Egg, was chosen as a We Love...Fresh Blood winner, resulting in a set at Space in Ibiza this summer. He's played several times at Global Gathering, Creamfields and Hungary's Sziget Festival, while he made his debut at Ibiza's We Love Space and the acclaimed Secret Garden Party in summer 2010. Some 17 years later he still has the same enthusiasm for the scene as he did back then, only now he’s helping shape it. One of the main heads behind the infamous Floatation parties in Birmingham which ran for 7 years, breaking the mold of predictable safe music in the midlands mixing a pure underground deep house night with disco balearic back room in an all night gay pub!! Revered by many and inspiring subsequent others Floatation left its mark on the Birmingham club scenes history.
