Family Dance Brooklyn is an event that provides an opportunity for the entire family to enjoy an authentic New York City dance party. The party was created by resident DJ Ali Coleman, a father and a longtime New York nightlife staple who cut his teeth dancing at places like The Loft, Shelter, Body and Soul and Sound Factory. Ali is a member of the House Music Coalition and Dance Parade, where his activism helped to repeal New York's cabaret law.
Ali has brought all of this experience to create an event that is equally fun for grown-ups and kids, with excellent music (played on Nowadays' custom-built analog sound system, no less) and activities that keep kids engaged from beginning to end: dance contests, face painting, arts and crafts, balloon artists and so on.
While the party's happening indoors, all the things that make Nowadays' back yard special will be accessible to all families: hammocks, a food truck and barbecue stand, drinks and plenty of space for grown-ups to stretch out and kids to play.
Tickets are $15 advance / $20 at the door. One ticket is good for a whole family.
Violence, non-consensual touching, racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, ageist or other discriminatory language, and leering are not allowed within our walls or in our back yard. If someone says or does anything to make you feel uncomfortable while you’re here, let us know.
