** IMPORTANT VENUE CHANGE! **
Due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to move to Dalston Den, a stones throw from the original venue EartH Kitchen.
We are incredibly honoured to be hosting Marginal Men for our next dance! Marginal Men are DJs, producers and promoters who have hosted the cream of the global crop at their infamous parties in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo and beyond – booking everyone from Sango to Branko to Swindle. The parties have been a focal point for many of the new generation of future baile producers in Brazil and around the world as well as shining a light on Brazilian grime. Marginal Men and SD9 have been heavily involved in new film ‘COMO VOCÊ' by Jesse Bernard, documenting their approach to grime and UK drill, which combines the UK sounds with genres such as baile funk and dancehall, which is due to be screened in London very soon. With SD9 on MC duties this set is going to be legendary!
We have wanted to book Vanessa Maria since we started Baile LDN. A DJ, broadcaster and host Vanessa has been making her mark on radio stations across the country sharing her love for underground UK music. On the dancefloor, Vanessa showcases sounds from around the world, infusing Baile Funk with everything from Jersey Club to Hard Drum. You might have caught her on Boiler Room, Dazed Magazine, Warehouse Project and HÖR in Berlin. Vanessa’s also been building some strong projects around music and mental health. As the key presenter at Resident Advisor she currently hosts a music and mental health-related podcast and documentary series. It’s clear she’s been making links and building a rep and we can’t wait to hear her play.
Completing this very sick lineup are Love In The Endz. No strangers to Baile LDN we are looking forward to welcoming Liverpool-born visual/audio artist Blue Canariñho and Lisbon-born UK based radio host Davia back to the decks. Regulars on Reprezent Radio, they released an incredible compilation Amor Na Endz with 32 artists, bringing together producers from five continents and over ten countries. Spotlighting the next generation of underground talent from around the world we know their set is going to be super fresh!
They will be joined by Baile LDN residents Emily Dust and Mango Park bringing their signature blend of baile funk, gqom, uk funky and afrohouse to hot up the dance:
Emily Dust is a DJ, curator and broadcaster with an eye on global club trends and emerging sounds. A regular on the BBC, where she's produced and hosted a documentaries on the South African sounds of gqom and Berlin club culture. With such an obvious knack for creating a strong narrative, it's not surprising that Emily approaches her DJ sets in a similar fashion, expertly weaving through the threads that bring these disparate sounds together. Dancehall, Brazilian baile funk, Angolan kuduro and South African gqom are all in the mix, kept together with the bass-heavy sounds of her native UK.
Mango Park is fresh from a series of hot comeback shows across London. He'll be spinning his signature blend of everything from amapiano to 150 baile funk.
Baile LDN was formed in 2019 to celebrate baile funk, gqom, afrohouse and other bass-heavy club sounds. Launched with an impeccable series of events, Baile LDN has seen sets from the likes of BadSista, Leo Justi, KG, Freak De L'Afrique, Kensaye, DJ Kwamzy, Tryb Princess Trium, Jaymie Silk (UK debut), K2RAH and more.
See you in the dance.
