Booker Stardrum is a composer, percussionist, producer, and educator. His compositions are sculptural, carved from the dense layering of instruments and manipulated samples, a pantonal harmonic sense, and an intuitive approach to rhythm. Stardrum has released three solo records (‘Crater in 2021,’‘Temporary etc.’ in 2018 and ‘Dance And’ in 2015). Throughout the last decade, Stardrum has performed, toured, and recorded with Horse Lords, Lee Ranaldo, Weyes Blood, Cloud Becomes Your Hand, Landlady, Lisel, and the Young Jean Lee Theater Company, in addition to countless experimental and improvisational collaborations. He has toured in the US, Europe, Asia, and South America and has performed at such festivals as Meltdown (U.K.), Brighton (U.K), Rewire (NL), Le Guess Who (NL), Festival Bo:m (ROK), Hopscotch (US) and Ecstatic Music (US). His discography includes solo and collaborative releases on independent labels such as NNA Tapes, Northern Spy Records, Mexican Summer, Saddle Creek, Luminelle, Prom Night Records and Home Tapes.
Justin Frye (b. 1985) is a musician and visual artist from Virginia
Beach, VA, who has been based out of New York City since 2003. Frye
has released 5 LPs + countless tapes, 7”s and EPs with his project PC
Worship, which also acts as a vessel for his visual art, photography &
writing. His compositions have been featured on tv, radio and in
multiple films including Workaholics (Comedy Central), Everything is
Stories (podcast) & the Electric Surfboard Acid Test (STAB/ Vans). As
an active multi-instrumentalist and improviser he has performed,
recorded &/or collaborated with a diverse range of musicians like
Glenn Branca, Parquet Courts, Greg Fox, William Parker, Dan Deacon,
$keletons, Birthmark, Susie Ibarra, Ashcan Orchestra, Gary War & many
more. As an audio engineer, he has produced & recorded every PC
Worship recording, as well as releases by Ex Eye (Relapse), Heaven’s
Gate (Dull Tools), Thurston Moore, Joe McPhee, YoshimiO, Arian Shafiee
(VDSQ) and more.
Joanna Mattrey is a violist working in free improvisation, new music, and classical music. She uses extended techniques, modern compositional approaches, and electronic alterations to challenge the conventions of the viola. Drawing on her certifications in Alexander Technique, Yoga, and Martial Arts, Joanna creates an embodied performance practice centered on ceremony and ritual. Recent album releases include, “Veiled,’ (Relative Pitch Records, 2020), ‘Dirge,’ (Dear Life Recs), and ‘Death in the Guilded Age,’ (Tripticks Tapes 2021). Joanna has a B.A. in viola performance from the New England Conservatory (2009). Alexander Technique Certification (2012), Yogaworks 200-Hr Hatha Teacher Training (2019), Yoga Farm 300-Hr Kundalini Teacher Training (2021-present).
Arian Shafiee is a Brooklyn based guitarist/improviser most known for
his playing in the off-kilter dance punk band Guerilla Toss. Inspired
by aspects of non-western tuning and extended techniques, he crafts
moments of dense, shimmering harmony and aggressive gesture through a
unique approach, hinging classical impressionism to no-wave and early
Jaimie Branch is a Brooklyn-based musician and artist working in the areas of improvisation and composition. Through her musical practice, her main interests lie in extending and expanding the technical limitations of the trumpet and the musical language of free jazz and improvised music. Before moving to Brooklyn in 2015, she was an active member of the Chicago and Baltimore creative music scenes as a performer, presenter, and recording engineer.
Lester St. Louis is a New York City born and based Multi-instrumentalist, composer and curator. Lester has worked in, performed and created in artistic environments in The United States, Canada, South America, Europe and China with groups and artists such as Dré Hočevar Trio, Jaimie Branch Fly or Die, Ensemble Adapter, TAK Ensemble and many more. As a composer, Lester has been commissioned by artists such as the JACK Quartet, Mahan Esfahani and Stefan Jackiw, RAGE THORMBONES, Lauren Cauley and others. In the near future Lester will be continuing to develop groups such as MADD (with Dré Hočevar and Leafar) as well as TRANSFER (with Jordan Balaber, Daniel Brew and Rocío Bolaños) along with many new ventures.
