Village Underground's commitment to presenting the best of the new generation of DJs from around the world continues. This week we are overjoyed to present American DJ and producer, Nikki Nair.
Born in Knoxville and now based in Atlanta, Nikki is a self-described nerd whose love of UK rave and Drum & Bass has blossomed after a chance meeting with Underground Resistance's Mike Banks into music and DJ sets that traverse the landscape of electronic music.
His productions were described by Mixmag as "shapeshifting music [that] constantly defies expectations" and count Electro legend Jensen Interceptor as a fan. Most recently his 'More Is Different' EP was picked up by Claude Von Stroke's Dirtybird label.
Joining Nikki is one of our favourite Lisbonite DJs, King Kami. Originally from Brazil, Kami has quickly become of the most promising young DJs in Portugal today since moving here in recent years. Influenced by music from her native country as well as the Angolan-influenced genres rapidly becoming the sound of young Lisbon, her sets are a body-moving blend of polyrhythms.
Rounding off the bill is Scotland's Wrong Island aka Teamy. A recent transplant to Portuguese soil, this Glaswegian brings years of music knowledge that have seen him play alongside dance music luminaries like LCD Soundsystem, Blessed Madonna, Optimo, Ivan Smagghe, and Bradley Zero.
