Ohio’s Plural is a quiet luminary with 25+ years to his techno tenure! Plural’s production resume is exceptionally long with gem after gem after gem; we can’t stop listening to his recent EP on Rhod Records - it’s all sorts of fierce! Layered with hypnotic undertones, his Midwest sound is notably hard, and perfectly relentless. Come ready to be steamrolled by his unapologetic techno defiance!
Going b2b with Akua for an extended 4hr slayage is Discwoman’s co-founder, Umfang. Through her efforts with the collective, Emma has massively contributed to the prioritization of inclusivity in the techno world as we know it, and for that - we’re incredibly grateful! She also hosts a party series, Technofeminism, where she showcases new and emerging talent. As a producer, Umfang’s sound is melodic and loose; her dj sets are incredibly diverse, but tend to take on a heavy, more forceful tone.
Over the past few years, Akua has established herself as a force within Brooklyn’s techno community and has built a name for herself internationally with her well researched dj sets that encapsulate the old school ethos of the underground. Her rebellious and confrontational sound is notorious for channeling 90's rave nostalgia while seamlessly connecting the dots between techno's past and present.
Self proclaimed “THAT BXTCH” (we can confirm), quest?onmarq, opens things up! Their controlled, yet militant sound evolved from the New York ballroom scene and has developed into a concoction of layered techno sorcery. Their recent EP on Club Chai is an absolute delight that seamlessly weaves grime and jersey club with ballroom.
The night's lighting will be designed by Brooklyn-favorite, Kip Davis. MERGE's branding is led by the inimitable, David Padilla.
MERGE is a Brooklyn-based, queer platform that aims to cultivate sonic liminoid experiences through techno music. We will work together to incubate the collective queer body, and experience its transformation under the influence of techno. We seek release, mutual understanding, deeper access to the personal, interconnected, and ethereal. We honor the sound through dance, self expression, and hyper-immersion.
