A legend rooted in Birmingham’s early underground scene and now a globally celebrated live artist, DJ and producer Surgeon returns to London with a ‘Surgeon Curates’ party where he highlights new talent on the rise, alongside international and established names.
With an attitude to create sound and produce a live experience that’s truly his own, we’re thrilled to welcome Surgeon back to the capital to rumble the walls of Village Underground with an eclectic DJ set , slithering through techno and its sprawling sub-genres.
DJ Bus Replacement Service joins Surgeon on support. An unpredictable selector who is known to weave everything from classic techno to whooshing breaks and tripped-out chuggers into her set, you can expect DJBRS to grip VU’s dancefloor from the get-go.
Two artists from Surgeon’s mentorship program complete the bill. Resident of the Bristol-based project ‘No Future’ Alya L brings her sound of electro, edits and breakbeat to the fore, and represents the ethos of No Future. With the project's vision to promote music in a way that responds to how the capitalist internet has changed music consumption, Alya L fits right in on any 'Surgeon Curates' event.
The second name from Surgeon's mentoring program also hails from Bristol and comes in the form of producer and DJ duo Glances. If their residency on Noods Radio or releases on Scuffed Recordings are anything to go by, Glances' collection of breaks, techno and unconventional rhythms are set to make a loud debut at Village Underground.
