ICKPA is a two-day festival celebrating Electronic Music and Cultural Dialogue. The Festival was established and is curated by the team behind renowned Tbilisi Nightclub, Bassiani. The Festival will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, for dates set to be 23-24 July 2021.
ICKRA aims to establish herself as a new entity on European Dance Scene collecting and connecting the east-west experience. The Festival intends to act as a unifying umbrella for Post-Soviet Dance Culture. We are forming collaborations with communities from Kyiv, Tbilisi, and beyond: 20ft Radio and Veselka will be represented with scenes on the festival site.
ICKPA chose to be located in Kyiv because of its connecting location between Western Europe and Post-Socialist Space. We believe that the connecting point is not only geographical but, first and foremost, cultural. This proximity involves the potential for the city to become a melting pot, where social and cultural experience accumulated throughout the year is communicated through dance.
ICKPA will host panel discussions empowering cultural dialogue and communication between Post-Socialist Dance Cultures. The topic for the panel discussion will be "Raising Underground in Post-Socialist Ashes," where speakers from Kyiv, Tbilisi, and Belgrade will share the history and nowness of underground cultures in their respective cities.
ICKRA is also a home of a futsal tournament, where club communities and friends from the Kyiv and Tbilisi scene will be competing in a charity event, uniting to raise money for a common cause. Teams participating in the tournament will represent: FORMA, BASSIANI, ICKPA, 20FT RADIO, VESELKA, PLANET B, RHYTHM BURO, and KULTURA ZVUKA.
The Festival will be located in the old Soviet Sanatorium "Khvylia," in Desnianskyi District, 25km from Kyiv city center. The location is only 25 minutes drive from the city center, hidden in a forest, and therefore a perfect spot for this summer's dance takeover. The easiest way to get to the location is a car or taxi; also, transit busses will be offered to get to the festival site.
ICKPA is a two-day event, so the festival offers accommodation for guests willing to stay on location. Guests of the festival can stay in rooms provided by Sanatorium. The rooms are two-bunk bed suites, equipped with all the necessary amenities, including a private bathroom, shower, and orthopedic mattresses. The rooms are limited and will be sold exclusively as a single-suited two-night booking for July 23 and 24. The price of a suite for two nights is 2700 UAH. Also, the festival offers a zone for camping, where guests with tents or camps will be free to set a spot and have a rest between activities.
