Oh to be back in the dance…
After a painfully long 3rd lockdown we thought long and hard about how we wanted to return to the hallowed dance floor and rekindle the intimate moments that have been lost over the past year and we are so pleased with what we’ve put together for this one.
With its small capacity and immaculate sound-system Peckham Audio is as intimate as they come - it epitomises the kind of atmosphere that we wanted to create after the year we’ve had. This is back to basics, no thrills clubbing and boy we’re excited.
If there is one DJ who has inspired and stimulated our musical senses over recent months it’s Polly. Generating north of 1 million views from her flat in South London, Polly’s isolation Boiler Room and guest mixes on My Analog Journal have provided the perfect soundtrack to our lazy lockdown days.
With a degree in ethnomusicology, Polly’s depth of musical knowledge across an array of genres is matched by few. Her monthly residency on Worldwide FM has been a staple with the BB family over the past 12 months and should the roadmap go to plan, we eagerly await her gracing the decks to demonstrate her sun-drenched sounds come July.
Aroop Roy is a British producer and selector, whose music blends together the organic elements of jazz, afro, latin and funk with the deeper edge of house and disco: his productions championed globally by Atjazz, Karizma, Jamie Jones and Soul Clap.
Performing in 5 continents and over 40 cities with residencies in London, Geneva and Tokyo and regular tours of USA and Asia. Like his productions, his DJ sets are always a performance full of personality and style. A global tastemaker with a keen eye of detail, Aroop has featured on guest mixes for the likes of Gilles Peterson's legendary Worldwide programme, deep house pioneers Freerange Records, broken beat scene leaders CO-OP and UK's Jazz FM.
In 2018, Aroop launched his label Vive La Musique with an official reissue and reworks of a rare 80s Zouk tune. The Tabala Mouv 12" became one of the fastest selling records of the year and was been featured by major tastemakers across the scene including BBC Radio 1, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Rush Hour and Phonica, topping Juno Record's monthly chart after only 2 weeks. The 2019 follow-up - Sammy Massamba's 'Azali' - had similar support with Aroop's edit scoring 10/10 in Mixmag and earning 'Tune of the Month' and gaining Reissue of the Year at Vinyl Factory.
We are so stoked to have him close proceedings!
