air london triumphantly returns to the sunshine state after the success of their 2009 party, this time with support from 8Bit Records. This year air london are taking over both rooms of the Electric Pickle to celebrate the launch of their own label, which sees its members pen some exclusive material. The first release comes from Robert Dietz and Burnski with the ‘The Wisdom of Crowds’ EP, with the 2nd release “Hello Dylan” ep featuring tracks from Simon Baker and Lemos, which is released on limited edition white vinyl on February 24. Marking this special occasion, air london will be joining forces with 8Bit who bring the finest talent from their roster, making it one of the most memorable events of the week.
From the air london camp, Simon Baker is a shining a light on the UK dance scene, delivering bomb after dance floor bomb for a succession of the highest profile labels on the underground scene, including the huge ‘Plastik’ on Playhouse and ‘Kaskazi’ with Jamie Jones on Get Physical. There are plans this year for a full artist album on 2020 Vision, which will be well under way come WMC. Glimpse continues to go from strength to strength, having been nominated for British producer of the year in DJ magazine and winning Player of the year in IDJ in 2009. The last few months have seen him release on Carl Craig’s Planet E Label, Cadenza, Kindisch, Buzzin Fly and he has his debut studio album on Crosstown Rebels, out before this event, revealed through a stack of new material in this exclusive live set. Burnski has several prime time tracks emerging from the production house for Dessous, Poker Flat and will be shaking up proceedings with his eclectic style. Throughout his ten years of experience behind the decks, Nitin has established himself as a sonic force in the electronic music scene and draws on a range of influences that date back to early electro and hip hop and adeptly blends them with the sounds of today by incorporating upfront promotional material from the hottest producers in the industry. Alejandro Sab completes the line-up, fresh from his debut release alongside Alexi Delano, where he demonstrates his deep understanding of what‘s needed to satisfy the collective dancefloor psyche. Nick Curly’s own profile has reached unrivalled success with continual touring and big solo releases on labels such as Cocoon, murmur, alongside his own imprints. As one of air london’s main protagonists, Nick now also takes the opportunity to introduce acts from his own 8 Bit label and present the sound at the forefront of the international electronic scene.
8bit Records are arguably one of the most exciting labels to emerge from the German underground scene and bring with them the finest talent from their roster. Oxia brought forward some fine material in 2009 on 8Bit Records and also mixed the fifth anniversary compilation on Systematic. Gorge aka Pit Waldmann is co-founder of the 8Bit imprint, bringing artists like Johnny D, Sis, Afrilounge, Gruber & Nurenberg and many newcomers to the attention of the electronic music world. Gorge also releases solo material, pushing his own special sound and forging the basic sound of the label. Whilst his own roots are in Nigeria, it is actually Mannheim, Germany that Ray Okpara has helped put on the electronic music map, with a string of stellar productions on hot labels like Cécille, Oslo, Get Physical and Area Remote and an indomitable DJ style that has seen him rock out the world’s great modern clubbing arenas.
