These brothers have history, between them they have been behind some of the most enthralling British music over the last couple of decades. John Maclean was a member of the critically acclaimed Beta Band and then The Aliens, and his brother Dave is a current member of London based art rock band, Django Django. Django Django, signed to Because Music (also home to Justice, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Major Lazer & Christine and the Queens) are on the cusp of releasing their 4th album and John is working in his second feature after winning a BAFTA award for best short film and the Grand Jury Award at Sundance film festival for his first feature film, Slow West (great soundtrack too!)
John and Dave have been collecting vinyl for 30 years, djing together for 20 and behind the legendary London club night - Bad to the Bone - which ran or almost a decade.
Playing strictly vinyl, they build their sets mixing familiar classics with the exotic rarities, making each record bigger than the last. Their overall eclectic and dance floor oriented sets weave between ska, soul and disco, Caribbean and African funk, old skool hip-hop, new skool rap, ragga, house and techno. Expect the unexpected but always dancefloor friendly.
