Finally, with days to go, we can officially announce a REVIVEHER NYE party ft Rex The Dog + A LOAD of Very Special Guests!
2 intimate rooms. 4am finish. Capacity for 150 people and a limited FREE ENTRY guestlist for you and your mates if you sign up here: at www.reviveher.com
A week before Christmas we sat down with our friends Carl and Patrick, local to the Wick and asked them if they had anything special planned in their bar for NYE. When they told us they automatically had a late license but no concrete plans, we had to step in and suggest taking over proceedings; keeping things semi-private but taking this to the next level ….and then some.
We reached out to various DJ friends immediately and within a few days we’ve managed to put together an absolutely killer line up right in the heart of Hackney Wick.
Such a killer line-up in fact, that we wanted a second room to fit it all in. Having trialled a close friend’s private birthday in their coffee shop a month ago and watch it really kick off, we’ll be turning what is a humble coffee emporium by day, in to a psychedelic sweat box by night, complete with sound, oil projections and space for about 50-60 goers to dance their asses off.
The whole venue is effectively three great spaces in one. The main bar itself has a real Japanese DJ bar vibe to it - two turntables, rotary mixer, JBL quadrophonic system, copper finishes on the bar, quality beer on draft, a really nice selection of wine and a limited selection of cocktails. Polished black concrete floor and black walls. With stools along the bar, the capacity at any one time is around 60 people. This will make the perfect dance floor for alternative dance music, B sides, forgotten house and oddball disco.
Probably the stand out feature though is the covered courtyard! There’s an outdoor kitchen, heaters, bar and NYE we’re evening setting up a DJ booth and PA outside from 8pm – Midnight! This is the ideal place to schmooze and take a breather between the two indoor rooms of music!
Between the coffee shop, courtyard and bar, you’ve got a lovely dynamic of 3 cosy spaces that all feel intimate. We want to keep this feeling like a private event for friends and fam.
So, make sure you attend and share the event with your closest and sign up to the list @ www.reviveher.com
IF YOU WANT TO ENSURE A PLACE IN THE PARTY, YOU CAN ALSO PURCHASE ONE OF THE LIMITED TICKETS HERE ON RA FOR ACCESS AT ANY TIME.
★ REX THE DOG ★
We don’t believe in headliners, but if it comes to one on NYE, it would probably be Rex The Dog. A veteran in the scene who makes and performs music with analogue electronics and a self-built Modular Synthesiser. He carries this precious machinery around the world, bringing his unique sounds to packed crowds at the best clubs, festivals and parties.
Rex has released on Kompakt Records since his first EP ‘Prototype’ in 2004. Recent releases have included the acclaimed 'Vortex', ‘Sicko’, ‘Teufelsberg’ and ‘Crasher’ EPs earning him the support of his DJ colleagues including Tale Of Us, Jamie Jones, Ame, The Black Madonna, Krystal Klear, Eclair Fifi, Tim Sweeney, Camelphat, Jennifer Cardini and Roman Fluegel.
As well as his original material, Rex has produced remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode, Fever Ray, The Knife and Moby and more recently on labels such as Correspondant and Anjunadeep!
This will be an amazing opportunity to see Rex in a tiny environment! I think we’ll put him in the coffee rave emporium at peak time!
★ TOBY TOBIAS B2B SOFT ROCKS - RAINFOREST SET ★
“Headlining the other space” we have ESP Institute favourites and close friends Toby Tobias and Piers from Soft Rocks playing an all vinyl “Rainforest Set”.
In their own words, “Rainforest” is where they collude to provide a soundtrack of ethereal and funk driven music, from ambient experiments through to lost dubby street soul and lovers rock, leftfield boogie, through to tropically inclined house and spacey UK garage via breezy African rhythms and anything in between and beyond.
Toby fell in love with House in the early nineties, driving in convoy to warehouses, fields, seedy basements and sports centres around London with one goal: to dance all night. He dove into the wider world of all things Techno, Breakbeat and Rave in his early teens recording Kiss FM shows by the likes of Colin Dale, Steve Jackson, The Legendary Paul Trouble Anderson, Fabio & Grooverider and Colin Faver, the latter playing his first demo on his show as far back as 1992.
Since then, Toby has recorded for a slew of labels most recently including ESP institute and consistently over the last decade on The Revenge's Delusions of Grandeur. His output ranges from dreamy Balearic affairs to intense analogue hardware jams. Today, he’s a part of the Phonica Records family with whom he holds a monthly residency in Soho. As a DJ, Toby hypnotically mixes from a vast knowledge of music and brings his versatile selection to the world’s best venues.
On NYE, his “Rainforest” sound will give him a chance to explore the more diverse side of his vinyl collection, in contrast to the early rave and garage sounds of his set at our end of year party in 2018 at The Cause.
Piers is one quarter of Soft Rocks, co-runs the new Mysticisms label and writes for the esteemed music blog and podcast, Test Pressing. As part of Soft Rocks, he’s recorded an album for ESP Institut; done many edits (that were worth editing) and remixed kindred spirits such as the Beautiful Swimmers.
He's DJ’d across the globe from deeply spiritual rooms like Sapporo’s Precious Hall through to hedonistic 48-hour raves in Berlin. It's all driven by the thrill of musical discovery, a journey he hopes will never end. Piers is a true DJ’s DJ and we’re delighted that Toby suggested to have him join him together for their Rainforest Journey in the Wick!
★ NICK WILLIAMS (PHONICA / MEDA FURY) ★
Nick is the Assistant Manager and has run the counter and shop floor at the world famous Phonica Records in Soho, London, for 10 years, regularly serving up new releases to some of the busiest working DJ's: from Seth Troxler to Andrew Weatherall, Erol Alkan to Trevor Jackson, Floating Points, Honey Dijon, Four Tet and Moodymann! Whoever is in town stops by to get Nick’s recommendations.
In 2013, Nick was asked to join the A&R team at legendary Belgian techno label R&S Records. After some time, he was then offered the opportunity to create and run a new sub-label for them: Meda Fury.
Now 27 releases deep - Meda Fury caters to exotic strains of house music from all over the globe. Releases so far include DJ Seinfeld, Hazylujah, Takuya Matsumoto, Damon Bell, OL, D-Ribeiro, Pearl River Sound, Ryota OPP, Lady Blacktronika, Rimbaudian, Sad City, Pletnev, Alleged Witches, Eliphino and Silvestre.
Not feeling restrictions in his all vinyl DJ sets, Nick likes to draw on everything from proto-house to UK acid, modern deepness and Afro influences to bass heavy hybrids, discoid weirdies and electro to lo-fi abstractions...
In his 20 years of experience DJing, Nick has warmed-up for Moodymann, Joy Orbison, Four Tet, Shackleton, Juan Atkinds, Carl Craig, DJ Seinfeld, Midland, Kassem Mosse, Dego, Derrick Carter, Omar S and many more.
Whilst also promoting his own club nights (including Phonica collaborations with us) he has provided UK debut performances for Vakula, Ron Morelli, Maxmillion Dunbar, Beautiful Swimmers, and Ital. These parties also saw him booking Paul White, Bullion, Magic Mountain High, Kyle Hall, Maurice Fulton, DMX Krew, Funkineven and Computer Jay.
In the last decade he has DJ'ed at London venues such as Fabric room 1, Corsica Studios, Plastic People, Village Underground, Great Suffolk St, Ministry Of Sound and Fire.
Since pushing his own label, he’s since DJ’ed across the globe, including tours of Japan with label artist RYOTA OPP. He’s also a regular at Alfresco Festival, Farr Festival and Dimensions Festival.
2019 has been the busiest year yet! Supporting Photonz, Seth Troxler, B2B’s with Axel Boman in Bilbao and Dauwyd in Berlin; a return to All Points East festival in London, with an afterparty set supporting Jon Hopkins and Josey Rebelle; debut gigs in Frankfurt and Darmstadt in Germany – playing with the Workshop crew (Even Tuell/Kassem Mosse/Mix Mup), Spiritland in London, Paloma Bar in Berlin with Lady Blacktronika, Lisbon with Silvestre, and also Pikes Ibiza – playing in Freddie’s for Secretsundaze; two sets at the final Dimensions festival in Pula, and a 5 date tour of Japan.
Nick has played for us each time we’ve brought over Public Possession too; including in a flat on Fish Island and a rave in the bagel factory in 2016 before it was knocked down. He brought over Vakula for his UK debut with us for a Phonica collab and now he’s closing a triumphant year with us back in the Wick :)
★ PLEASURE CRUISER (RBMA / LOVE HOTEL) ★
Bi-Bop resided in Tokyo with Nic Liu aka Pleasure Cruiser several years ago. There, they hung out and DJed together at the likes of Oath, Air and Womb. Nic was a RBMA graduate in Tokyo. He playfully seams genres together across the electronic music spectrum. He runs his own label Love Hotel and was instrumental in the exposure and success of Soichi Terada and Shinichiro Yokota’s (whom he considers close friends) resurrection of “Do It Again”.
His most recent release is Tokyo Horoki, through the UK party and label High Hoops in collaboration with Japanese house maestro Shinichiro Yokota (Rush Hour, Far East Recording, “Hhatri”). Pleasure Cruiser will release part 2 of Tokyo Horoki early 2020 in collaboration with Keita Sano, another close friend and kyodai. It was Nic who suggested to get his friend Rex The Dog on board. It’s likely there will be some B2B fun between the two in the coffee shop rave room!
★ VINYL PIMP ★
Since 2007, local legend Luk Man Hon, has Vinyl Pimp: the best vinyl re-selling agency in the UK, dedicated to selling new and second-hand records on behalf of individual collectors, DJ's and companies. He’s proud to have the highest feedback score on Discogs and is the number 1 seller on Discogs Marketplace!
Originally from Hong Kong (Wan Chai), Hon moved to Lincolnshire in the UK at age 15. It was here, ensconced in 90’s and 00’s electronic music culture, that he got into buying vinyl. It was in these early days he saw the intrinsic value; both monetary and cultural, of records.
After university, Hon spent extended time in both New York and Amsterdam. Both already bubbling over with electronic music culture as it was in the UK, Hon now felt the draw of permanence to Europe and the West. Hong Kong called, but it was London that answered. Hon seized the moment and started selling second-hand vinyl, using the web platform Discogs. He regularly partied at outdoor raves and in East London warehouses.
He then set up shop in one of the very warehouses he frequented. His connections in the scene proved vital, as DJ’s, collectors and others would keep handing him the keys to their collections; with the intent they be sold on commission.
In the 11 years of Vinyl Pimp, names such as Ben Sims, Giles Peterson, Doc Scott, and Phil Asher all flocked to Hon to flog their wares. As a collector, selector, and businessman, the breadth of content passing through his hands broadened his tastes ad infinitum. As the years went by this expanded further afield into Jazz, Disco, House, Ambient, and Experimental. Hon was a veritable sponge, adapting his tastes and becoming a true master of the art of collecting. And this all shows: Vinyl Pimp is now one of London’s famous record shops.
Hon still has one foot in the rave and sometimes he’ll even play a set. While DJing is not his primary aim, he still has the ability to move a dancefloor and that’s just what he’ll be doing NYE!
★ BI-BOP B2B WILL BEST ★
The much overlooked REVIVEHER mainstays will be on board to execute an ass shaking set as ever. Bi-Bop missed out on last year’s end of year REVIVEHER Rave collab with World Unknown @ The Cause with a broken ankle suffered just before last Christmas and subsequently the REVIVEHER party at The Cause last Feb.
This is the first REVIVEHER party since all that and he has a lot of making up to do for it on the dance floor and behind the decks, especially before another forthcoming ankle op!
In spite of that, it’s been another year of grand plans being conjured for the label and events in 2020 and some fun gigs including the pair playing with their label mate Eric Duncan at Five Miles and the other week on stage with Damon Albarn playing at Forest Uprising Festival for Block 9! The boys are ready to wreak havoc for NYE. Come join!
★ MOHSON STARS (K/D) ★
Mohson runs the K / D Keep It Deep project, which he started in 2010, after leaving Resident Advisor as a feature writer. K / D is a podcast, party, radio show & editorial platform for underground electronic music with big plans as the project turns 10 in 2020. No defined genre, no particular style or space just music, more records and the joyous interaction through music and the nightlife is the key objective.
Through his appearances at some of the capital’s best parties over the last decade; his reputation as a write and love for house music, Mohson has become a local fixture on the DJ circuit and has a great vinyl collection. Researching, collecting and digging for records is a long standing passion across all genres for him.
You may have seen Mohson play at The Cause, Motion Bristol, Pickle Factory, Studio 9294, Peckham Rooftop, Night Tales, Mick’s Garage & Basing House to name a but a few.
Recent highlights include playing for the Secretsundaze crew at the Pickle factory b2b with Sash Dixon for 4 hours; their summer party at Studio 9294; warming up for Red Rack’em at Mick’s Garage and opening up the Project London forest party in the Hackney Wick Woods. He’s also done podcasts this year for Manchester based, High Emotion party as well as The Sticky Plastik podcast. Mohson has played on various London based radio stations too: Hoxton FM, Bloop, Wick Radio, Balamii, Netil Radio & more, recently holding down a bi-weekly show on Project London as K / D Keep It Deep with close friend’s Untitled.
★ PADDY GALVIN (WAGWAN SOUNDSYSTEM) ★
“Familiar Face and DJ on the London Club Scene since 1989. Never a sell-out. Basement, Red Light, 5K rig and Strobe in any order. (Smoke Machine optional)”
Patrick Galvin is a familiar face on the club circuit and can often be found as the last man standing at the after party!
Known for his legendary knowledge of London house, what started as curiosity to find 80s rare grove and jazz funk in “Our Price”, to Afrika Bambaata and Break Machine, quickly grew into an obsession when American imports broke into the independent record shops of East London and house music was aired over the city’s pirate radios. He began making his own home-made mixes of US house and garage on sound lab decks before buying his first Technics decks and never looked back. Like Toby Tobias, he went on to be a regular voice on some of London’s most cutting-edge pirate stations, including House FM alongside EZ, Colin Dale and Mister C.
He has played at some of the capital’s most iconic clubs of the 90s - Turnmills, Gardening Club, Limelights, The Wag, Lazer Drome, Laberinth - as well as some of the capitals more underground parties from squat raves to Leyton’s legendary Dungeons nightclub. When he wasn’t playing, he was partying alongside the punters or digging into crates to add to his expanding vinyl collection.
His latest excursion is his “Wagwan Soundystem”, a “soundystem” with the motto “rest the hips, shake the hips”, which sees himself and the likes of Grace Sands (DIY / Adonis) combining for joint sets and parties. Paddy’s also been a regular at The Cause since its launch, both as a raver and DJ. From his appearance at our party with WU 12 months ago to the most recent London Loft Party / Tribes gathering this month, it made sense to get him back on as he will only end up with us at an afters anyway :)
★ PLEASURES ★
Pleasures is Hackney Wick based Natalya Afromuza and DJBugabohbring. Local friends to us and the venue, they bring together a cross-section of musical influences to form a unique exploration of electronic music throughout their sets.
Together, the duo have played at Beats4Love and Let It Roll On Tour both in the Czech Republic. In 2018 Pleasures composed a score and soundtrack for a Stefan Allesch-Taylor short film, which was screened at the BFI. In the same year, they played at HogSozzle festival (UK). This year they released the Pleasures debut EP “Kora" available on Juno records.

By day DJBugabohbring manages Wick Boards, so you can’t get more keeping it local than that!
★ DJ AIKO (REVIVEHER) ★
Aiko Dayap, takes her influences from her half Japanese and Filipino heritage and time spent living in London. By day she works in filming and editing. But her new found passion is DJing. Her musical interest really began when she began doing the door for REVIVEHER. You may have seen her over the years playing a pivotal role behind the scenes, whether it’s the cloakroom, guestlist, artist liaison or production (those gigantic balloons)!
She’s started DJing seriously only in the last 12 months and has already racked up a slew of important local gigs including illegal warehouse parties, Egg, the venue on NYE and many an after party!
She cites these REVIVEHER previous guests as some of her biggest influences: Farley Jackmaster Funk (who discussed her filming a documentary); Tim Sweeney, Bell Towers, Chida, Gonno, Public Possession, Interstellar Funk, Young Marco, Nick The Record, Bicep and Tornado Wallace. It’s not surprising that her selections are on point with such a list of cult heroes.
Catch Aiko from 8pm warming up in the courtyard.
Its free entry before 10pm and after if you’re signed up on the guest list at www.reviveher.com
There’s also fresh woodfire oven pizza available early doors
Well 2019 that’s a wrap. Time to bring in 303 + 808 + 909
