Serpente is Portugese artist Bruno Silva, also known as Ondness. 2019 has been a prolific year for Silva, who released the "Not Really Now Not Any More" mixtape on Lisbon label Holuzam and the LinnDrum-heavy "Parada" album as Serpente on Ecstatic Recordings. He also has an upcoming vinyl release on Souk Records/ Discrepant at the end of the month. Besides all this, Bruno has been a long time Alien Jams friend, with a track called "Maria No Raver" featuring in our Nervous System Compilation last year. We also hosted Ondness at Power Lunches back in 2015..!
"Serpente started as some sort of an Ondness spin off, Serpente became its own entity with a vision that aims to enlighten beat and percussion in their rhythmic, textural and devotional dimensions, channelling particles of communal dance, dub, jungle or free jazz. After 'Rituais 101' and 'A Noiva' on Tormenta Electrica and a split with Ondness on Sucata Tapes this year brought the release of 'Parada' on Ecstatic Records. Fire."

Severin Black sometimes uses the alias Nape to explore distorted harsh rhythms, but under his own name has occasionally performed with a different palette in mind. Mostly using oscillators to build up fluctuating tones alongside textured field recordings, Severin has previously performed with Zara Miller and Owen Pratt separately at Cafe Oto. This will be his first solo performance in this iteration.
