Friday November 29th we welcome Eli Verveine back to Flash as she doses us with another proper set. With two decades of DJing under her belt, Eli has grown global recognition through her club sets as well as her podcasts which have become cult favorites worldwide. She holds a residency at Zukunft in Switzerland while also running Tardis Records alongside Berlin-based Oscar Schubaq. Eli is frequently associated with a league of expert selectors, frequently tapped to headline label nights for Giegling, Melliflow, Sol Asylum, and of course Tardis along with festivals such as Waking Life. She is joined by N/UM is what is becoming an annual tradition.
N/UM (pronounced noom) heat things up in the Club Level with an improved live hardware set. Consisting of Grammy winning mix engineer Jeremy Loucas, electronic experimental guitarist Elias Meister, and synth instrumentalist/vocalist Emil Bovbjerg, the trio fuse vintage and modern hardware, vocals, guitars to deliver a one of kind masterful set. With no pre-composed songs, or pre-discussed plan, we witness magic in the making.
Tres Manos from Barcelona heads the Green Room on this Black Friday. As a prior record store owner, agent, DJ and producer, Tres Manos has experienced several sectors of the industry and continues to be a key selector and influencer.
In the Flash Bar we welcome Something Real genre-influencers as they raise funds to support the NAACP’s DC Economic Development Initiative. DISQO VOLANTE will serenade your first drinks with an instrumental set on the Flash LiVE stage. Following will be DeVaughn Jones and Jon Hao, who are redefining DC’s club scene with their unique blend of electronic and classical elements. DC powerhouse J Swink joins the lineup following a seemingly never ending streak of top-ten Beatport releases. AV8, a mainstay in Baltimore’s underground house scene, opens the night. You can directly support grassroots efforts to provide Washington, DC’s most vulnerable communities with free resources like income tax assistance and financial literacy education. For as long as Eli Verveine has been mixing records she has strived for the perfect groove and flow, the one that keeps you moving and the dancefloor rocking. After two decades, thousands of satisfied dancers will happily testify to her uncanny knack of finding and working that groove. Since honing her skills over years warming up the dancefloor, she has developed into a superlative peak-time DJ who also still loves to play extended after-hours sets like those she laid down at Zurich's legendary Dachkantine in the 00's. Her sound is timeless, a smoothly-blended mix of deeper house and techno from two weeks or two decades ago that's always warm, groovy and tastefully euphoric. The three members of N/UM come from a variety of musical backgrounds. Jeremy Loucas is a five time Grammy winning mixing & mastering engineer with years spent as a DJ in the underground party scene in NY – Elias Meister, an electronically experimental guitarist with a decade of performance experience in free and improvised music – Emil Bovbjerg is a vocalist, synth instrumentalist and producer/DJ with a background in orchestration and contemporary arranging and composition.
Each performance or recording by N/UM is improvised, with no pre-composed songs, no plan or structure agreed upon.
