SURCO - - Club V, Manchester
November 13th 11pm – 6am £6/£5
Sam Russo | Nick Parr | Cahman | Andy Shaw | Higgy
Sam Russo headlines tonight, and is a young man who’s played alongside everyone from James Zabiela to Mr C, so has learnt from the masters how to control a floor with rolling minimal and driving tech.
Nick Parr will blend minimal funk with techno futurism and house melodies for his part (as he has done for We Love... at Sankey’s in the past), whilst keeping things underground will be Caham, Andy Shaw and Higgy.
Since 1999, Club V has been a commercial hotspot for passing house fans, but now that’s set to change. With a bunch of new promoters on the case, the more obvious 4/4 of yester year is going to make way for a more discerning set of sounds from now on.
Encompassing the hottest Ibizan vibes, with more than a few underground stylings, the aim is to offer up the freshest new Mancunian talent, alongside a selection of fine DJs and producers from around the globe.
The cosy 450 capacity venue has an essential Funktion-One soundsystem for the sort of clarity and punch that any decent night needs. Add that to the club’s low ceiling and subterranean basement feel, and you’ve got the foundations for an essential night out.
Club V aim to keep lager boys at the door and nurture a genuine house party vibe for those in the know; those who like their music. The size of the club means focus can remain firmly on the quality of guest and clubber, rather than the quantity. And that’s a fine position to be in.
So, if you like underground house, techno and all the sonic shades in between, Club V is now somewhere that deserves your attention. Here’s a rundown of the up-coming parties...
