This October brings a month of heavy interenational flavour to the city of Brisbane, and White Rhino has teamed up with british expats Duble E & Kontradikt to host one of the most exciting producers making dancefloor sounds today.....Holland's 2562.
Imagine a head-on collision between soundsystem cracking sub bass, techno-infused offbeat rhythms, moody chords and unusual sampling ethics… or actually, forget about it. The music of 2562 – aka Dutchman Dave Huismans, has surprised dubstep, garage and techno communities alike because it escapes easy categorizing.
Funky and futuristic uptempo transmissions such as Channel Two, Kameleon, Techno Dread and Hijack found their way onto the decks of everyone from Kode9, Appleblim, Mala and Mary Anne Hobbs to veterans Francois K, Pole and Laurent Garnier.
Aerial, the subsequent debut album, ended up in many 2008 year lists and was followed by experimental techno and house releases for his other project A Made Up Sound, appearing on Shed’s Subsolo label and Clone Records.
Known for an energetic dj’ing style and wide knowledge of electronic music, 2562 is a selector who enjoys making a trip out of a dj-set, going across the board and mixing up fresh dubs with unexpected classics. He played in clubs like Berghain (Berlin), Fabric (London) and 11/Trouw (Amsterdam), at dubstep/bass-strongholds Subloaded, FWD and Sub Dub, and at numerous festivals and underground locations from Scandinavia to Japan and from the US to Russia.
