After an epic collaboration between LoDown and Symmetry last month the LoDown crew is stepping out again this month to bring you some of the finest underground sounds in Sydney this month with NZ rising star Daniel Farley.
Daniel is one of the most prolific rising talent of the New Zealand dance scene, in just 3 short years he has forged his own style and sound of driving electronica, his tunes can either be of a techy or alternative edge, but are always upfront, and always rock the dancefloor.
He is a top NZ ranked DJ, has played at every major party there is to across Auckland and elsewhere in New Zealand, including the likes of Rythym & Vines, Summadayze, DeepHardNFunky, Our House, Godskitchen, Slinky, Chemistry, Highlife Ministry Of Sound, OneLove, and many more, and has supported over a hundred of the best international acts in the world.
Daniel held down a residency for the past two years at CODE, a club which has been at the forefront of cutting edge dance music since its inception, until leaving Code to pursue other promotional ventures in 2009, including a residency at new town hot spot ‘Be’ and regular at clubs Ink and Coherent, Cassette 9 and 324. He is also a long time resident of the Shore’s mainstay for dance music – Mesh. As well as playing right across NZ he has played across the ditch at clubs such as Revolver & Qbar in Melbourne, and Tank, World, & Chinese Laundry in Sydney, with a return tour to Oz planned in Spring 09.
2009 is set to be the year he is aiming to start making his mark with production as well, working hard to learn his craft in the studio, with none other than Bass Kleph being impressed with his productions and signing his track Clownfish to his new ‘Exit Row’ record label along with getting him to remix Vacation release Diamond Sea, and creating quirky tech-house track ‘Airbag’ with Tom Piper – which is due for a September release on his new trans-tasman record label, along with a remix of Marco Demark coming out on a major labels. Also with forthcoming and remixes of his tracks done by the likes of ProN & The Shopliftaz, several remixes of his own underway, and his own dynamic-indie-disco-guitar based track ‘Tarantino’ being remixed and released in Australasia later in the year too.
He also has established his own promotions company – Torque Promotions – and brought over many acts for the first time to NZ shores including Crookers, Sander Kleinenberg, Sinden, Fake Blood, D.I.M, Dirty South, Justin Martin, Kasey Taylor, Infusion LIVE, AJAX, The Bang Gang Deejays, Bass Kleph, MODULE and more – catering for both underground and overground style, and always trying to offer something a little new and different in his parties. He runs ONELOVE in New Zealand, along with his tech brand CLOCKWORK, alternative electronica night THURSDAY NIGHT TEA PARTY, and NZ’s biggest all ages party – PLUS ONE.
Whether it be slaying out a set at 4am in a dark basement club, playing techno in the trees at a day festival, or talking bollocks on air with his popular radio show, on GeorgeFM after Aural Trash, Daniel will have the right tunes for the floor and his passion behind the decks is always evident, you can count on big bass, driving beats, and a few eclectic surprises thrown in for good measure.
