A night of free techno laced electronica for the Sydney massive massive... Our gift to you
After a long cold winter in semi hibernation, we decided the first TECHnique of Summer 09 we should do something a little special and invite two special guests along to our humble little bestfest. First cab off the rank is a man that no introduction could do justice. Pushing the decks to one side and treating us to a heapin heaplin of live techno, Sydney's production juggernaut BIZ.
Biz is one of Australia's most prized djs/producers, and he has had this opportunity. This and the chance to support over 50 of the world's greats from Carl Cox, Sasha, Laurent Garnier, thru to Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Aphex Twin and just about every other dj/producer who has made their mark over the last decade.
During this time Biz E has played at some of the best party’s and clubs in the history of Australian dance music. Be it the smaller clubs like Chinese Laundrey, Honky Tonks, and Tweakin thru to national events such as The Big Day Out, Happy Valley, Gatecrasher, Two Tribes, Gatecrasher and the big super clubs like Home. He has toured all over Australia and New Zealand and played at London's famous Complex. Biz has also toured Beijing numerous times where he had a residency at one of their leading clubs. During these tours he had the chance to play live on the CCTV/Channel V music awards, Global Undergound atThe Great Wall, and other events around the region. Recently he toured Singapore and was the main attraction at the notorious Liquid Room.
As a producer Biz E goes under the alias of Calix. He has released over 10 records worldwide thru major distributors Prime and Kudos, and has been charted by the likes of Dave Angel and Derrick May. His new label cliq is making all the right moves and has just signed a two year deal with German distributor Neuton. He has just licensed an ep for release to Derrick May's label Transmat and has licensed a track to the new Heiko Laux cd alongside Jeff Mills, and Ben Sims.
Biz E has hosted some of the finest radio shows in Sydney and had numerous guest spots on national stations such as JJJ. He has run two record stores over the last decade and compiled releases for labels such as Force inc and Detroit's legendary Submerge. He has worked with Roland promoting their dance product and he also promotes the legendary Flash parties, events which have made a huge impact on the Sydney dance scene.
