4-6pm Alex Bradley
6-7pm Clive Bell & David Ross (live)
Join us for the first instalment of East Wind where we take the opportunity to dive in a little bit deeper into our record collections and consciousness. Expect a voyage from 4th world, ambient and transcendental jazz through to spiritual percussive workouts, boogie and brit funk.
Clive Bell is a UK master of the shakuhachi (Japanese Flute) and other East Asian woodwind instruments such as the khene, (Thai mouth organ) and has performed with the likes of Jah Wobble and David Sylvian. David Ross is an electronics improviser and a maker of bizarre rhythmic instruments, such as the The Devastation and The Drosscilator no less. As a duo they tenderly explore the points of harmony and contrast between their tools, resulting in beautifully strange improvised pieces of mystic reverence.
Alex Bradley originally known as co-resident and host of Love Fever, is now more widely recognised as the man behind The Utopia Project, a new endeavour which focuses on a deeper, more holistic and spiritual sound, working with artists such as Lars Bartkuhn, Vangelis Katsoulis and Soichi Terada. A monthly broadcast on NTS showcased the approach alongside happenings at his live-in studio space in East London, where the party is taken on a journey from ambient and meditation through to dancing and release, ably joining the dots from Gigi Masin to Joe Claussell.
