Bug In The Bass featuring Simon Caldwell

  • After the huge sucess of our opening night, Bug In The Bass has decided to relocate to a new venue. Our new venue is the Kings Cross Hotel (Copperlily, Level 4). Ofcourse our dedication to the punters for quality underground tunage will stay true. Headlining with Simon Caldwell (Mad Racket), Andrew Wowk, Alex Almeida and ofcourse Bug In The Bass' residents System Dub & Daniel Lupica. Make sure you get down there early to avoid disapointment. PEACE! DJ BIOS: Simon Caldwell: Simon Caldwell is one of only a handful of DJs whose name adds a certain integrity to an event. Throughout the 12 years he's been playing records, he has managed to avoid being pidegeon-holed, keeping himself free to draw on his varied loves of deep, soulful house, techno, funk, jazz, electro, booty, hip hop and anything else which catches his ear. To the present day Simon has rocked the dancefloor of practically every venue, clubnight and festival in Sydney, including Home, The Chinese Laundry, Subservice, Berlin Sessions and Days Like This Festival. He has also pitched his skills alongside dozens of internationals, including Derrick Carter, Jeff Mills, Derrick May, DJ Godfather, Richie Hawtin, Frankie Knuckles, Luke Slater, Chris Duckenfield/Swag, Steve Bug, Daft Punk, Stacey Pullen, Carl Craig, Rolando, Blake Baxter, Claude Young, and Dave Clarke, and even has even played a guest set at Tresor in Berlin. Daniel Lupica: Daniel Lupica is a quiet achiever, nay, a no-bullshit DJ. Preferring to let his taste in music and skills do the talking, Daniel has regularly worked the dancefloor at venues and clubs such as Home, The Cross, Lady Lux, The Bunker and various others. He has also held residencies at the well-respected club nights ‘Bread and Butter’ and ‘Peepshow’. Daniel's versatility as a DJ shines through during his sets, with the young gun weaving together both old and new cuts of deep house, house, tech house and techno, keeping a healthy flow throughout the set. Andrew Wowk: Andrew plays a variety of sounds from across the spectrum of house and techno, as well as splashes of dubstep, drum & bass and experimental/electronica, but is always careful to program his sets intelligently, and use his variety as a DJ to his advantage, rather than just throw down tracks without any regard to set flow. He has been invited to support artists/DJs such as Anthony Pappa, Funk D’Void, Phil Kieran, Rowan Blades, Vince Watson, Thomas Schumacher, Worthy, Audion, Oxia, Marc Houle, Gaiser, Slam, Silicone Soul, Fergie, Skool Of Thought, Derrick Carter, Kazu Kimura, Tipper, Andrea Bertolini, Kevin Griffiths, Ekkohaus, Luke Le Mans, Rogue Element, King Roc, Clive Morley, Lady Waks, Phil K, Dave Pham, Dean Millson, Danny Bonicci, Rollin’ Connection, and Kriece. He has also played guest sets in Melbourne at the popular Darkbeat and Intermission parties. Alex Ameida: Alex Almeida is a house music fan in the truest sense of the term. Heavily inspired by the deep, underground sound of New York, Alex name checks legends such as Louie Vega and Kenny Dope as strong influences on him musically. Alex has played with the likes of Oscar P, Roy Davis Jnr, Sergio Flores, Paolo Mojo, Yousef, Richard Earnshaw and Sebastien Leger, and also played at this year's Winter Music Conference in Miami and the established New York night spot, Sapphire Lounge. And with forthcoming releases through Open Bar Music later this year, Alex is set to continue raising the profile of Sydney's house scene internationally. System Dub: System Dub is one of Sydney's new breed of techno/tech house DJs. But don't be fooled, this isn't handbag poser shit. This is proper. Raw. Twisted. Rolling. And all those other cool words that only apply to the good shit, not to handbag techno. Capable of playing just about any time slot, but preferring to turn heads inside out late in the night, System Dub is one to watch out for the coming years.
