One of the most influential nights to emerge from London in the past 6 years,
SYSTEM is not just one of the most authentic sound system culture event
series, it’s a community of people believing in deep, heavy sound syste
culutre,V.I.V.E.K continues the journey he had envisioned 6 years ago by
bringing together the originals of contemporary reggae, dub music and grime
on Fri 16th Nov at Electric Brixton. The night is powered by the chest rattling
SINAI SOUND SYSTEM which is specifically built to deliver the traditional
sound system style in the highest quality possible. It’s the first dub sound
system to appear on the prestigious ‘Boiler Room, Event with such sonic
intent is a rare find in London these days.
This idea of musical provocation through aggression, intensity and tension can
be traced through all of The Bug’s work, right up to his latest album. Most
known for his iconic album ‘London Zoo’ which featured vocalists on nearly
every track – with two songs in particular that grew ubiquitous in the UK
underground, reaching a near-mythical status: ‘Poison Dart’ with Warrior
Queen and ‘Skeng’ featuring Flowdan and Killa P. Flowdan, who has
appeared numerous times on The Bug’s tracks, will be performing along with
him. The long-standing member of Roll Deep, who is known for his deep voice
and use of patois lyrics, will add that extra zest of rawness to the rare
East London’s MC D Double E is a major player in the UK grime scene. As a
solo artist he dominates with seminal cuts including ‘Street Fighter Riddim’,
‘Bluku, Bluku’ and ‘Bad 2 Tha Bone’. A quick check of his collaborative
discography and it’s where much of the magic happens - Wiley’s ‘The
Godfather’ album, Skepta’s Mercury Prize winning ‘Konnichiwa’ and JME’s
‘Integrity’ are just scratching the surface of his discography.
DJ Chef, the man with over 15 years of pirate radio and club experience,
brings his exclusive dubplates to the show and takes the stage with Sharda,
whose work has been described as a collision of throbbing basslines, rushing
piano melodies and elastic vocals.
We will also announce a special guest in due course and trust us when we
say it’s going to be deep, loud and very very heavy.
