Killekill's Ghetto House Special with Fiedel

  • WORK IT! PUMP IT! SHAKE IT! Making your booty bounce is the mission that Ghetto House is on. Starting in the mid 80s in Chicago with legendary labels like TRAX Records & Dance Mania Ghetto house is still fuxxing hot today. The raw and simple productions reflect the everyday life of people like DJ Deeon, DJ Traxman, DJ Funk, Slugo, DJ Rashad, Paul Johnson and other legendary producers from that time. With little money they bought some basic machines and turned it into gold. „Simple, but funky!“ says DJ Deeon. He still records his tracks with an old 4 channel tape recorder: „One for the Kick drum, one for the snare, one for the hihat and one for my vocals.“ The sound of the 808 drummachine plus some dirty vocals coming straight from the underground Chicago scene and some extra funkyness magic is all what it takes to make a bouncing Ghetto House track. „I need 2 minutes to produce a beat“ according to DJ Deeon. Boom! The fairytale of this genre teaches us that you can make gold out of -almost- nothing, if you got the vibe. WORD. The raw jacking sexiness of Ghetto House has always played a big role in the Killekill universe and for this edition we gathered some of the most talented Ghetto DJs around. Amongst them is no less than FIEDEL, known as a living legend, a connaisseur of various styles and genres, exquisite music taste and excellent DJ skills. He is around the scene in Berlin for almost 30 years, being a resident DJ for Ostgut/Berghain for the last two decades almost. For us he will play a rare Ghetto House set. We’re also looking forward to the new and fresh CORK BANGERS, who formed in the summer of 2016 out of an impromptu back to back set at Griessmuehle in Berlin along with a mutual love for the jacking beats and filthy vocals of Chicago ghetto house, and a random encounter with a much-loved Irish culinary delicacy if you want to call it that. Cork Bangers is a DJ (and soon to be production) collaboration between Killekill boss DJ Flush and Bastardo Electrico headhoncho Jamie Behan. One of Jamie Behan’s favorite quotes in terms of Ghetto House comes from DJ Nasty " Put your hands up if you dont give a fuck, tear the fucking club up!“ Also on the list is ANDREW SOUL, an Italian artist we have been watching for a while already. When he sent his demo with the extremely raw and dirty tunes that you find on the A-side of the upcoming Killekill Housetrax release, the decision was easy: Killer stuff, that makes you bounce immediately -  We Want To Put That Out! We’re super excited to have this party weapon on board for our night as well. Next on the list is PURITA D., who joined the Killekill Crew about a year ago and we fell in love with her style immediately. She started DJing in Holland in 2001 and since then has always been playing anything funky from electro to acid, from ghetto house to house and miami bass. Whatever she touches turns into gold on the dancefloor. “What I like the most about Ghetto House, is that it's freaky and for creativity with all the elements you can have in good dance music.” (Purita D.) The super surprise for our night will be a VOGUING team from VERV in London, who will bring the extra sexiness and some wicked dance moves with them to make this an extra hot night! For the Silo Floor we are happy to announce the young and wild crew from Background. Codes, who will take that floor over with their fearless techno. As a special guest they have invited Reflec. After releasing a host of rhythmically and melodically orientated tracks on the likes of Pacific Command & Lobster Theremin, he has found his home on Mancunian output Clergy, headed up by friend and frequent collaborator Cleric, alongside some of the most exciting names in techno. Throughout their friendship, Reflec & Cleric have developed the Works Unit project, which combines dark atmospheres with rolling drums and basslines to produce emotive yet dancefloor ready heaters. Scream and Shout, work it out!
