KILBOURNE (KUNQ) rescores late 90's vampire classic BLADE.
This month, Materia, Loveless Records, and KUNQ present a interpretation and rescore of Blade, the 1998 American horror/action film directed by Stephen Norrington, starring Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson and N'Bushe Wright. Based on the comic of the same name, the film focuses on a half-vampire, half-mortal man who becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.
Some people are destined to devastate. Marked by her politicized take on dance music and dedication to the harder styles, Kilbourne exists at the unsettling intersection of club music, horror, and hardcore. Born in New Jersey, Kilbourne has crafted a queer sound all her own, dubbed “agro-femme” by #KUNQ founder Rizzla. Her sets create new worlds, drawing connections between hard dance, bubbling, club music, trance, and the cinematic, often only to break them down and begin rebuilding. Kilbourne has contributed official remixes and original production for a wide range of rappers and vocalists, including Cakes Da Killa, TT The Artist, ceo, and Abdu Ali, and her unofficial remixes and edits can be heard at DJ nights around the world. She has been interviewed numerous times about the roles misogyny and transmisogyny play in dance music, and continues to push a politically informed understanding of dance music and the world(s) in which it exists.
