    Before become one of the founders of MAiKO back in Oct 2009, Rob Sharp first begun spinning records in the middle of 2004 and has always stuck true to his passion of House music. Over the past 8 years, Rob has also has the privilege to play at many of Western Australia’s largest music festivals such as Stereosonic, Good Vibrations Festival, Future Music festival, Global Gathering Perth, and the Ministry of Sound Festival. From playing at numerous house parties to some of Perth’s best clubs, it was after spending a year in Dubai and having the opportunity to travel around the world and seeing parties at the meccas of dance music – in particular Ibiza and London – he arrived back with wide eyes and started a weekly residency at the now infamous “Frisk @ Bar Open”. Between the start of 2007 and the end of 2009 – “Frisk” gained notoriety around Australia for being one of the longest running weekly house nights, and presented Rob with the opportunity to headline and support a host of international and Australian DJs. During this time, Rob was also resident at the weekly “Shuggie” parties @ Capitol Nightclub which also presented him to chance to play on international label nights – Ministry of Sound, One Love and Hed Kandi. From playing at most of the major clubs in Perth, as well a tours throughout Sydney and Melbourne, the opportunity for Rob to showcase parties through Asia on a regular basis has given a fresh new audience and induced new passion, with MAiKO parties are being held at the World famous Cocoon Beach Club, and SOS Sunset Sessions. These amazing opportunities provided him with the chance to warmup for some of the world’s best such as Derrick Carter, Felix Da Housecat, Alan Braxe, Danny Howells, Carl Cox, Deep Dish, Junior Jack & Kid Creme, Joey Negro, Sharem Jey, Mark Dynamix, Alan Thompson, Simon Dunmore of Defected records, Butch, Desyn Masiello, Luke Fair, H.O.S.H and Lovebirds just to name a few. Starting in October 2009, Rob along with Adam Key, created the first MAiKO party headlined by Sonny Fodera – which was of course held at the Home of House music in Western Australia – Geisha Bar. From there, Sandi Matic and Luke P joined in on the party and have succesfully put on crazy monthly parties at Geisha – showcasing everything DEEP | DISCO | GROOVY. Along with a range of other boutique house events, the guys have been running one of the most successful and longest running Summer MAiKO Raftup Boats parties which occur throughout the warmer months and over the past 5 years have become a summer institution in Western Australia. In 2007, Rob finished 4th in the publicly voted Inthemix DJ Poll for WA, and also finished in the top 30 Australia wide in 2008. More recently, Rob has finished in the top 3 for Perth’s Best House DJ at the PDMA’s. These days, you will find Rob playing a variety of house sounds from Deep, Disco, Groovy tech sounds – whatever keeps people dancing.
