London-based artist Elkka began her path as a singer-songwriter and has evolved into a multi-faceted producer, DJ and label boss.
Sitting firmly in a lane of her own creation, Elkka’s music is a cross-pollination between house, electronica, percussive beats and dreamy vocals. When performing, she immerses herself in her art – from expansive, cross-genre DJ sets to hypnotic live shows.
In 2016, Elkka founded femme culture which she now runs alongside friend and DJ Saint Ludo. The London-based record label and collective was born out of the desire to champion women in the arts and push forward-thinking music standing for inclusivity amongst all genders, backgrounds and beliefs, and actively promotes collaboration in all fields.
The label is also a home for her own music, and in November 2019, Elkka followed up her popular debut with Every Body Is Welcome, receiving critical acclaim and support from the likes of Caribou, Moxie, HAAi and Tom Ravenscroft, as well as features in Crack, Mixmag, and DJ Mag.
By 2020’s halfway point, Elkka had contributed to and released the third annual femme culture x UN Women compilation alongside a host of electronic artists at the top of their game. She had dropped a FACT Mix, the acclaimed remix EP of Every Body Is Welcome featuring Violet, Jossy Mitsu, and Ilana Bryne, and released lockdown-inspired hit I. Miss. Raving. on cult London label Local Action, turning more than a few heads along the way.
Elkka’s momentum is fuelled by a silo of authentically danceable music; to date, her work has been supported by Four Tet, Floating Points, Caribou, George Fitzgarland, SHERELLE, Annie Mac and more, and there’s plenty more heat to come.
